There are moments in business that stop you in your tracks—moments you replay in your head long after they've happened. Watching my swimwear on the runway for the first time was one of them.
I'd spent countless hours designing, tweaking colours, perfecting patterns, and obsessing over every seam. But seeing the pieces come to life on models, under the lights, in front of an audience—that was surreal in a way I wasn't prepared for.
The Sunshine Coast event felt like the perfect stage. There's something about our home market that makes these milestones hit differently. As each model walked out wearing Salt Sand Swim, I felt this strange mix of nerves and pride. These weren't just inventory numbers or thumbnails on a screen anymore. They were real pieces, moving through space, telling the story I'd imagined.
What struck me most wasn't the applause or the validation (though both were incredible). It was the clarity. Seeing the silhouettes, the colour combinations, and the way the fabrics moved gave me immediate feedback I couldn't get any other way. Things I'd agonised over in design suddenly made perfect sense. Details I'd second-guessed looked exactly right.
That experience shifted how I think about the collection. It reminded me why the colour and pattern variants matter—why offering multiple ways to wear each piece matters. Every option on that runway was there because someone might want to experiment, to try something bold, or to find their exact shade of perfect.
If you're building something, especially something wearable, I'd encourage you to find that moment. See your work in the world. The perspective it gives you is invaluable.
